Organised by Dance UK, in partnership with Dancers’ Career Development, Youth Dance England and the National Dance Teachers Association, the Programme recognises the huge potential for dance teachers to become leaders. It is designed to build capacity within the dance workforce and to ensure skills and knowledge retention in the sector, addressing problems of succession to key artistic and non-artistic roles. Applicants needed to be a member of Dance UK or the National Dance Teachers Association.
Nominated by Rachel Elliott, EFDSS’ Education Director, Kerry’s application was one amongst many in this popular application process: she is thrilled to be selected. She will be working with a high-level mentor from the dance sector, looking at ways in which to help facilitate more training, pathways and opportunities for folk dance artists within the wider dance arena. Kerry is keen to build bridges for community dance artists to learn more about folk dance and for folk dance artists to develop work in the wider dance sector.
"This has come at a perfect time for me as I am looking at how I can help support more folk dance artists and what I can do to help build career paths for them - I'm very excited!" Kerry Fletcher
