Each year, the Traditional Music & Song Association of Scotland (TMSA) brings together winners and finalists from the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Competition as the TMSA Young Trad Tour to recording CD and visit their home towns and other locations.
This is the only public performance in the first time the Tour has come to London so don’t miss the opportunity to see some of Scotland’s finest young folk musicians in this showcase.
To make it even more special, we have the 2018 winner, singer Hannah Rarity and 2016 finalist fiddler Ryan Young (& Radio 2 Folk Award nominee) joining finalists from the 2017 competition: Ella Munro, Scots song; Kim Carnie, Gaelic song and Grant McFarlane on accordion, with accompaniment provided by guitarist, Owen Sinclair.
The TMSA Young Trad Tour Musical Director is Anna Massie - one of Scotland’s foremost guitarists well known for her work with the likes of Blazin’ Fiddles. Anna was a former winner of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award back in 2003 and toured with the TMSA Young Trad Tour in 2015 as an accompanist.
Audiences will be treated to a mix of new material written and composed by these outstanding young musicians as well as innovative arrangements of traditional tunes.
Bringing the TMSA Young Trad Tour to London has been made possible by financial support from Creative Scotland, Paisley 2021 and Perth & Kinross Creative Communities Fund, as well as working with EFDSS!
