Your chance to learn from a professionally trained Slovak traditional dancer.

 

Explore choral folk song arrangements in a relaxed and friendly environment. These seven sessions are suitable for singers of all abilities, without the pressure and commitment of public performance. All material is taught by ear. The workshops this term will be led by Maz O’Connor.

Learn to play Bert Jansch’s special riffs, vamps, elements and iconic compositions. Workshop leaders, Jon Riley and Thomas Fairhurst, give special insights into Bert’s influences as well as his idiosyncrasies and provide study materials, special exercises and some of his compositions.

 

American-style contras and squares - with a few traditional and modern numbers thrown in for good measure.

Frigg has been conquering the world with a fusion of western folk music styles leaning strongly towards Nordic folk music, for which the world music media has coined the term nordgrass, referring to the bluegrass influences of the group. The tight interplay of four violins, string instruments and contrabass, fine-tuned to perfection and spiced with sparkling, humorous live-energy has made an impact on listeners all over the world.

Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin

In April 2018, Edgelarks (Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin) retreated to a remote cottage in Ulpha, western Cumbria. They breathed in the mountain view, banked up the fire, and took their instruments out of their cases.
