The action-packed event on Thursday 21 June, hosted by Carmen Hunt (Scoots Kernow), will explore the themes of community and cultural identity.
There will be time for questions and discussions plus practical music making, step and social dancing, so bring your instruments, voices and dancing shoes!
Presenting their insights will be a whole host of speakers including Dr Merv Davey, Telynyor An Weryn (Folk Harper), Grand Bard of Gorsedh Kernow and director of An Daras Cornish Folk Arts Project; Richard Trethewey Cornish community musician and music therapist; Jack Morrison from FEAST- the community based arts programme in Cornwall and part of Creative Kernow; Lisa Sture and Jenny Read from Taking Steps - Dartmoor Stepping project; Marilyn Tucker from Wren Music talking about the new Certificate for Music Educators qualification; Anna Leatherdale of People Dancing: the foundation for community dance focussing on professional development in dance; Carmen Hunt and Helen Musser on Cornish scoot and social dance; and Rachel Elliott, EFDSS Education Director on the education work across the country, including the Dance Development programme and National Youth Folk Ensemble.
