Kirsty Merryn

- (Doors: 7pm)

Cecil Sharp House, London

With support from Tilly Moses.

Kirsty Merryn is a London-based singer-songwriter whose music is heavily anchored in the folk tradition, with influence from contemporary folk artists like Cara Dillon, Seth Lakeman and Kate Rusby, as well as genre-defying musicians like Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush.

Kirsty has become a regular on the UK folk scene, delighting the crowds with her delicately introspective piano based songs and sophisticated musical style, which are balanced beautifully by an intimate and finely observational lyrical content.  In 2015 after being discovered by Steve Knightley she received national airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music and in 2016 opened the main stage at Sidmouth Folk Week for headliners Show of Hands.

Kirsty’s debut album – a collection of stories about inspirational women, with funding from the English Folk Dance and Song Society and produced by award-winning Gerry Diver – was released in Autumn 2017 (‘Bold debut of an adventurous folk voice’ – The Guardian).

‘Perfect, poised vocals’ Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

‘Sassy and sexy, witty and wistful. Imagine your favourite actress suddenly bursting into song!’ Steve Knightley, Show of Hands

‘Kirsty is an incredibly gifted songwriter and musician… she is a rare talent’ Sam Kelly, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winner 2016

Promoted by EFDSS.
